All Saints Church, Alrewas

Pilgrim Way Church Trail

In 822 Bishop Aethelwald of Lichfield created a prebendary (senior member of the church) in the flourishing settlement of Alrewas. This is the beginnings of a church on the spot where it stands now.

The location of All Saints is a result of the meeting of two important trade routes which crossed at this point. When the river broke its bank, traders would be marooned awaiting the fall of the water. This would have developed into a small settlement.

Over the next  1,200 years All Saints Church became what you see now and is comprised of features spanning hundreds of years.

All Saints Church is open between 8am and 4pm each day.
