Stage 6 - St Stephen's Fradley to Lichfield Cathedral

This is the longest, and most diverse section of the route taking you from rural to urban.

HS2 has necessitated that the walking route follow the course of the Coventry Canal until you cut off and follow a path across a field to the outskirts of the city. You then pass through a brand new housing estate before being led through an older one to the magnificence of the three-spired Lichfield Cathedral.

Following National Cycle Network Route Number 54 will take you all the way from Fradley to the Cathedral and is very well signposted. This route is a feature of this trail along its length.

Driving sees you once again tarvelling the A38 and into the heart of the city.

The sight of the spires is never far away on any of the routes and is a visual guide to your goal.

Where to rest and refresh

Lichfield boasts a wide range of cafes, restaurants and fast-food outlets. Just follow the road down from the Cathedral towards the market.
